COLD-ROLLED STEEL SHEET

Cold-rolled sheets are intended for more demanding applications where high surface quality, dimensional precision, and consistent mechanical properties are of key importance. Thanks to the cold-rolling process, the material features a smooth surface and good formability for further processing.

We offer cold-rolled sheets in a full range of grades - from deep-drawing grades to dual-phase DP steels and high-strength HCT grades. The selection of material, thickness, and format is carried out in accordance with customer requirements and current stock availability.

Frequently asked questions about cold-rolled sheet

Cold-rolled sheet is made from hot-rolled sheet which, after pickling, is rolled again at room temperature. As a result it has a smooth surface, tighter dimensional tolerances and is available in smaller thicknesses, from 0.30 mm. Hot-rolled sheet is supplied in larger thicknesses and is the choice for structures where strength and a favourable price matter more than surface quality.

DC01 is the basic low-carbon steel for cold forming, suitable for bending, profiling and simple pressing. Grades DC04, DC05 and DC06 offer increasingly better drawability, up to extra deep drawing, which is why they are chosen for complex pressings, housings and appliance components. A higher grade is worth selecting only when the production process requires it.

DC01 is a cold-forming steel selected for its formability rather than its strength, while S235JR is a structural steel with a guaranteed minimum yield strength of 235 MPa, available as hot-rolled sheet. Where cold-rolled sheet with guaranteed strength properties is needed, the right choice is grades HC180LA to HC550LA or DP and HCT steels.

Oiled sheet has a thin layer of preservative oil on the surface which protects it during transport and storage and makes pressing easier. Before painting, bonding or welding the surface has to be degreased. The dry (non-oiled) version is chosen by plants which send the material straight to laser cutting or to their own surface preparation process.

Yes. In addition to the forming grades DC01-DC06, we offer cold-rolled sheet with increased strength: micro-alloyed HC180LA-HC550LA and dual-phase DP and HCT steels. They are used where a lighter product must retain its strength, e.g. in profiles, reinforcements and load-bearing parts. We confirm the availability of a specific grade and thickness on request.

Wherever a smooth surface and dimensional accuracy matter: equipment housings and electrical cabinets, metal furniture, stamped and bent parts, components for powder coating, light structures and metal hardware. Material without a mill certificate and second-grade material works well in series production where a 3.1 certificate is not required.

DC01 is the most frequently bought cold-rolled sheet for bending, profiling, blanking and simple pressing. Manufacturers use it for housings, electrical cabinets and switchboards, metal furniture, machine components, bent profiles and laser-cut parts. For deep-drawn parts grades DC04 to DC06 are the better choice, and for load-bearing parts the HC grades with a guaranteed yield strength.

Hen-Stol supplies cold-rolled sheet from 0.30 to 5.00 mm thick, in coils, slit strips and sheets. A coil can be slit into strips or cut into sheets of the required dimensions. Available thicknesses and widths change with stock levels, so it is worth stating in the enquiry the range that is acceptable for you.
